An active arm orthosis developed by its users

About us

The ExoAssist start-up project at TH Köln is developing a modular and adaptive arm orthosis system to reactivate paralysed arm function. Orthoses are externally worn medical aids which – unlike prostheses – do not replace missing body parts, but support existing limbs whose function is impaired.

Our goal

To reactivate paralysed arm function and enable people with impairments of the upper limbs to return actively to everyday life. The system is designed not only to support the medical rehabilitation process, but to give those affected back a large measure of independence and quality of life.

Our path to market readiness

Our project is currently supported by the German federal funding programme EXIST-Forschungstransfer II. With this funding we are working intensively to develop our existing prototype towards market readiness by mid-2028. Throughout, our foremost aim is to make the system quickly and easily accessible to patients.

We look forward to hearing from you!
